Our Story

Seido Knives was born in the kitchen of our founder, Tino, an Italian-Canadian who grew up surrounded by food, family, and tradition. In his home, the kitchen was the heart of life — a place where meals brought people together, and where nonnas cooked with both passion and precision. But one thing always sparked frustration: dull knives. If a blade couldn’t keep up with their standards, it simply had no place at the table.

As Tino grew older, he carried those lessons with him. He developed his own love for food — from classic Italian dishes to the refined craft of Japanese sushi. One problem remained: quality knives were either overpriced or underwhelming.

With his background in technology and entrepreneurship, Tino saw an opportunity to change that. He set out to create a brand that honored the artistry of traditional knife-making while making premium quality accessible to everyone.

That vision became Seido Knives. Inspired by centuries of Japanese and German craftsmanship and refined through modern techniques, Seido blends heritage with innovation. Built on a direct-to-consumer model, Seido removes the middleman, making it possible for cooks everywhere to enjoy knives that are razor-sharp, beautifully balanced, and crafted to stand the test of time.

From its beginnings in Canada, Seido has grown across the U.S. and now serves customers worldwide. What started as a solution to a simple problem — dull knives — has become a mission: to give every nonna, barbecue dad, home cook, and professional chef the tools they need to cook with confidence and precision.

Tino, Doing His Best Wolverine Impression

About the Founder

Food has always been central to my life. I love my nonna’s Italian cooking, backyard barbecues with family and friends, and sushi!.

I’m a father, fitness enthusiast, entrepreneur, and a self-proclaimed knife nerd who believes that the right tools in the kitchen can completely transform the cooking experience. But for years, I struggled with dull, overpriced knives that fell short of expectations. With a background in technology and a passion for food, I set out on a mission to create something better — knives that embody precision, durability, and beauty, without the inflated price tag.

That mission became Seido Knives. In Japanese, “Seido” means precision — and that’s exactly what I expect from every cut. Drawing from Japanese craftsmanship and modern design, I wanted to create knives that deliver professional performance yet remain accessible to everyone who loves to cook. Each blade is razor-sharp, balanced, and crafted to last a lifetime.

For me, Seido Knives isn’t just about making premium cutlery. It’s about bringing people together through food, helping them cook with confidence, and making every meal an experience to remember.

Inspiration

The inspiration behind Seido Knives comes from a blend of heritage, culture, and passion. Food brings people together… food that celebrates heritage and diverse cultures, made and shared with love. This is Tino’s experience, as well as for many of the team. We want to share our passion with you through exceptional knives and kitchen tools—because they do make a difference.

Precision knives and superior kitchen tools highlight the joy of cooking. Because they make the job easier, they give us more time and energy for what matters most: our family and friends, and shared love for good food.
