Seido Knives Limited Lifetime Guarantee
Our Commitment to Quality, with Fair Use in Mind
At Seido Knives, we take pride in the craftsmanship and durability of our products. That's why we back them with a Limited Lifetime Guarantee that covers manufacturing defects for the usable life of the product, under normal and intended use.
What’s Covered
We guarantee our knives against defects in materials and workmanship that arise during proper use. If a knife is found to have a genuine manufacturing defect, we will replace it at no cost, subject to the terms below.
What’s Not Covered
Our guarantee does not cover issues that result from anything other than a manufacturing defect, including but not limited to:
- Normal wear and tear, misuse, and neglect are typically not covered under a lifetime warranty. Likewise, knives that are disassembled or modified typically void the warranty.
- Misuse, abuse, or neglect (e.g., using the knife to pry, twist, or cut bone or frozen food)
- Improper maintenance (e.g., dishwashing, soaking, not drying after cleaning, or storing in damp conditions)
- Handle damage (including resin or wood handles) caused by exposure to water, high heat, direct sunlight, dishwashers, impact, or improper storage
- Rust, stains, discoloration, or cosmetic wear from regular use
- Damage from drops, accidents, product alterations, or sharpening with inappropriate tools
- Loss or theft
- Use in commercial or industrial settings
- Claims made more than 30 days after discovery of the issue
How to Submit a Warranty Claim
To initiate a claim under our Limited Lifetime Guarantee, customers must:
- Report the issue within 30 days of noticing the defect
- Ensure the claim is made within 12 months of the original purchase date
- Provide the following:
- Valid proof of purchase
- Photos or videos clearly showing the issue
- A brief explanation of how the knife was used, cleaned, and stored
Proof & Evaluation Process
All claims are reviewed by our quality assurance team. If, after review, the knife is found to have a genuine manufacturing defect, we will replace it at no cost in accordance with this policy.
Please note:
- Claims involving handle damage require clear evidence that the knife was properly cared for and not exposed to moisture, extreme heat, sunlight, dishwashers, or impact.
- If the issue is determined to be the result of misuse, neglect, improper maintenance, or normal wear, the claim will not qualify under this guarantee.
Exclusions and Limitations
- This guarantee is non-transferable and only applies to original purchasers of authentic Seido knives purchased through SeidoKnives.com or authorized retailers.
- We reserve the right to decline claims that do not meet the criteria stated above.
- No other warranties are expressed or implied, except as outlined in this policy.
Frequently Asked Questions
My knife is less sharp than before. Do you sharpen knives?
Sharpening services are often provided for free by knife manufacturers, but may require shipping fees. In the case of Seido Knives, unfortunately, we do not provide such service. We have written several maintenance and sharpening guides to help you keep your lifetime warranty knife sharp.
I ordered the knife online and it's just not right for me. Can I return it?
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unused, and in its original packaging within 30 days of your purchase with receipt or proof of purchase. If 30 days or more have passed since your purchase, we cannot offer you a refund or an exchange.
To start a return, you can contact us at support@seidoknives.com. Items sent back to us without first requesting a valid Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number will not be accepted.
I was given the knife as a gift, can I exchange it for a different color or different knife?
We only exchange goods if they are in the same condition that you received it, unopened, unused, and in its original packaging, defective or damaged. Please get in touch with the customer service team.
There seems to be rust developing on my knife, what should I do?
Proper maintenance of carbon steel knives includes hand washing with mild soap and warm water, followed by immediate drying. Knives should be kept clean and dry to help prevent rust from developing, as rust is typically not covered under warranty. Wipe down your knife with oil to remove developing rust.
